Janet took us to ALL of the neat homes and areas. She pointed out the orange tree hidden in one back yard and a lime tree in another. She took us to the candy maker that had a replica candy line that was identical to the one from the famous I Love Lucy episode. She even planned for bathroom breaks!! Janet informed us about the vegetation and the history that permeates downtown Beaufort. Her enthusiasm was contagious and the tour was just plain fun.
If you take the carriage tour you will learn a bunch of history and marvel at the live oaks. But you will also miss so much....like the orange and lime trees, the delicious dark chocolate samples, the resurrection ferns, the tour of the graveyards, and the steps to get up into the carriages of the mid 1800's. You will also miss the story about the return of the bible. We highly recommend taking this walk with Janet.

Janet was the best 3 hour tour... Better than Gilligan's! She met us at the Rhett house for a delicious breakfast and from there we toured the history of Beaufort. Not only knowledgeable including the history of SC, the Civil war, area architecture, community and family(s) history. Janet is very accommodating to groups. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with her.

Thursday, October 9, 2014, my wife, Donna, and I had the privilege of taking Janet's Walking History Tour. We absolutely loved Janet and fell in love with Beaufort. Being a walking tour guide in Charleston, myself, I found her to be very knowledgeable, personable, and downright fun! We moved along at a good pace and I'm sure we did not miss anything. Her enthusiasm for Beaufort was contagious and now Donna wants to move there, as do I....who knows??
The beautiful homes, architecture, and huge Live Oaks draped with Spanish Moss were captivating and Janet's delivery of the history masterful. We also appreciated her walking us by all those quaint restaurants at the park near the river. All of it was a truly a wonderful experience. A visit to Beaufort without taking Janet's tour is not really taking in all that Beaufort has to offer. It's a must do tour!

I loved this tour. If you have one day or one thing to do in Beaufort, this should be it! Janet is charming and very knowledgeable about Beaufort. Her voice is beautiful and carries almost half a block, even though she is not raising her voice at all. She is a world-class guide with an insider's knowledge of historic Beaufort. She sketches the remarkable history of Beaufort with lots of wonderful stories. We rambled through St. Helena Parish graveyard and inside the church as well. And then we sauntered through blocks and blocks of stately homes, gardens, and live oak trees, all surrounded by water. There were only 5 of us on the tour this day. Janet provided bottled water and had 3 bathroom stops along the way. Consider wearing sunscreen and a hat for this tour. Of course, bring your camera. For me, the was absolutely the best way to experience historic Beaufort. If you are in Beaufort, you must do this. The price is extremely reasonable.

Janet gave us a wonderful 2.5 hour walking tour. We went inside St Helena Church & walked the graveyard learning of several historical figures from the war. Quite enjoyable. She's well informed, humorous, & just the type person to give you a great walking tour! A special treat was given at The Chocolate Tree to each of our party. Highly recommend her tour!

Janet was fabulous in her creative approach to customizing a tour for a person incapable of walking the 2 hours. She was so much fun and is focused on the individual needs of her customers. Her presentation of factual historical knowledge of this unique town, which could often be a dry communication, was an entertaining dialogue of stories made fascinating by Janet. Two thumbs up and not to be missed.
Beaufort is a jewel and so is Janet.

Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor I decided to call "Jon Sharp's Walking History Tour" since my husband was golfing and I had a few hours to spare. Janet called me back within a half hour and my walk was scheduled! Despite a very hot day with 100% humidity (or so it seemed) I -- along with just 2 other guests -- had an absolutely wonderful walk! I learned a lot about his lovely town and Janet pointed out several of the local examples of architecture and buildings and spoke about its rich history. Do not miss this tour!

I was on Janet's walking tour of Historic Beaufort at the very beginning. She was so much fun and knew so many interesting facts about this wonderful city. I'm looking forward to taking her tour again with family and friends. If you have never been to Beaufort, SC this is a Must Tour.
